Projects
Dewatering station with barge and pumps
Mandate
Construction of a new mining project under winter conditions
Our mandate was to provide a solution and the necessary equipment to ensure effective management of the tailings ponds. The pumping unit also had to be operable under winter conditions.
In collaboration with our partners in Rouyn-Noranda, we have designed and built a complete dewatering station for the management of tailings ponds, in an assembly of four (4) shipping containers, three (3) placed side-by-side and an additional one (1) on top.
The containers are assembled on a 40′ x 24′ barge floating above a pond. Access to the building is provided by a custom-built catwalk. This all-in-one solution achieves a pumping capacity of 8000 GPM at 90psi.
The pump house includes, among others:
- 4x Technosub VT vertical turbine pumps 2 stages
- 1x Custom-built barge
- Specialized instrumentation to gather data on pumping operations
